Day 3- Yesterday was Wednesday and officially day two into the build.

We have a hole only 3 foot into the ground as the water table is extremely high. The basement will be built up and then back filled. We are having a walk out/ walk up basement instead of a straight walk out.  This was a pleasant surprise since we just assumed there was not a possibility for a walk out at all.

My grandfather came over with his tractor and cleaned up the ruts in the driveway, from where trees and brush being hauled, created ruts. He has been such a huge help this entire time and I cant express how much it means to me that he has been so involved. I have always been a grandpas girl and with building my first home having him there is something I will cherish forever. There are days when he pops in and does things like painting our barn, or burning the huge brush piles, all things we have to get done but we do not always have the time to do so we really appreciate all of his help (just a little secret though we think he is just as excited as we are, about the property and the house)

We finally eased my greatest fear and selected Kitchen Cupboards. This has been one of the biggest concerns of mine since the moment we decided to build. For those who do not know, I am a very visual person, organized not even close, but very visual. Jeff wanted Dark Kitchen Cabinets. this led to me being kept awake at night surfing Pinterest trying to find Dark cabinets against dark floors that I could love, I couldn't. Thankfully Danielle at Churches Lumber was able to help me convince Jeff that dark against dark would take away from the Cabinets.Jeff wanted dark, I wanted light, so we went with light (insert chuckle, he loves me what can I say). We chose to go with Bisque colored Kraftmaid cabinets. I was very hesitant on selecting the perfect colored cabinet. I did not want Bright White however was adamant that anything with a yellow undertone wouldn't do.Bisque was the perfect cream color without the funky undertones. Finally, one thing checked off the list, ah what a relief,  off we went to select the door design. The layout of the kitchen allowed us to make the stove a main focal point with a brick, white washed, back splash. We opted out of glazing  on the doors as it made the cabinets look too formal for the house design. The door design is very ' Pottery Barn' nothing too fancy yet nothing too plain. The best part of the process was designing what type of cabinets we wanted and where. We selected a communication center that will be the end panel on the side of the Fridge when you enter the house through the garage entrance. I of course did not care too much about what the insides of the cupboards contained, how softly they closed or how many pots and pans they held. Lets face the facts I don't cook, but wine, I can do wine. Danielle was so sweet to entertain my borderline obsession and suggested we add a wine rack next to the Fridge. I was being practical when I added another to the outside panel that leads into the dining area {haha}. The kitchen will have a bookshelf on the end cap of the island and a cove insert (where the second wine rack is) on the outside panel of the island. Of course we will have a spice rack and a cookie sheet (for those days when I want to be domestic, but don't hold your breath). These photos are the color and a similar door design:

For the girls bathroom we decided on a simple Plain white basic cabinet to be accented with a silver quartz counter top that has enough sparkles in it to fancy Tinkerbell. The girls have a Jack and Jill bathroom with double sinks so in order to avoid the morning "Mom shes looking at me" we put a tall center cabinet with a glass door and a drawer underneath as a divider.

Now the moment I had been waiting for, the Master Bath. Four versions of bathroom plans, thousands of dollars later, and a vision nothing short of a little girls dream, here it was, I got to design our bathroom! I swore to myself I was stepping out of my beige gray and pottery barn comfort zone, we are going Tuscan!  First, I went straight to the deep wood tones. Peppercorn instantly stood out it was exactly what I had envisioned! Then Danielle really started to rack up that commission she was making. My vision took off it was like I was Franck Eggelhoffer from father of the bride "Roping yes, add roping up top", " legs yes the fancier the better", "floor kicks, YES we need a totally pointless floor kicks" "INLAYS EVERYWHERE."
The above photo is the color of the cabinets and below is the door design that the Master Bathroom will be.
Now for the part I am still very uncomfortable on. The Laundry room, sage green , yes you heard it sage green cabinets. What am I thinking, I am not sure but we love them and its our home and no one can tell us no. Because we can, I truly think that is the real reason behind those sage cabinets. For argument sake I do think they will go fabulously with a nice slate floor and a good transition from the Mud room that will be Plank board and all white to the kitchen.

We are awaiting full photos of the design and layout, oh and the price (always forget that detail). So things could change but the budget we had planned for the Kitchen Cabinets was pretty giving. Danielle told us that a similar home with more expensive cabinet door designs and glaze did not even come close to what we had expected. So there is hope.
