Day 23-

It almost felt like day #1 yesterday! WALLS ARE GOING UP! The excitement is something I just can not explain. Yesterday when I pulled into the property to see the progress, I will admit I let out a screech! Seeing the walls up and being able to visualize where each room will go was amazing! As of this morning at 7:30am our bedroom closet and bathroom exterior walls were up along with the girls reading nooks in their rooms!

The walls and the foundation is complete in the garage and the laundry room/ Mud room area as well.
My mission yesterday was to locate a front door. Let me tell you that was not an easy task. I started by going to an actual overhead door shop only to find they didn't sell wood doors. They sell doors that "look" like wood/ plastic. There was something about painting a door to look like wood that I just knew wouldn't work. it may be because I tried it at our old house but nonetheless a fake wood door wasn't what I was looking for. I headed over to Carter Lumber and had our sales rep price out a door much to my surprise it was going to run us an exorbitant amount of money, for a more natural looking but still fake wood door. My search continued down in Auburn Hills where I found an actual warehouse that made and finished their own solid wood doors. Let me tell you, these things were no joke. Their show room was jammed full of 10 foot massive iron doors with every detail you could imagine. I found a knotty alder front door and the price only came out to be a little more than the fake wood doors everyone else was trying to sell. I was pleased but my "what else is out there" gene kicked into high gear when we left the warehouse. I wound up getting online and finding an iron door through home depot. The best part? The door I never thought we could afford was cheaper than the fake almost real door and the real wood door! SOLD!!! We ordered it and sent the specifications to the framer as the front of the house will go in today, so it makes it rather official the house is going up!
